Our guest speaker, Carolyn “CiCi” Higgins, is President of Be Encouraged and Higgins Communication & Training Alliance, companies that help individuals and organizations sharpen customer intelligence, become better leaders and communicators, and “smash the box” to attain innovative solutions.

In 2010, the prestigious National League of American Pen Women awarded her double Letters as an author and lecturer, and she has accomplished six first-place speaking awards in Toastmasters International competitions.  CiCi’s television show, Be Encouraged, was the forerunner for her present company and she has been featured as a subject matter expert in newspapers, on radio talk shows and in a woman’s magazine.

She has developed several successful training curricula and is the author of two books, including her recent personal growth/motivational book, Stories Worth Retelling; Articles Worth Sharing.   CiCi believes people really want to fulfill their awesome, untapped potential to learn, lead, and live more dynamic personal and professional lives.  She encourages her audiences:  “Let’s make a difference together!”

CiCi has enjoyed a diverse 30-year background in corporate and community environments, including holding such titles as President, Corporations Manager, and Marketing Consultant in small businesses, major corporations and a television station.   She has been an entrepreneur since 1994 and recently owned and operated an apartment complex.  In 1998, she received an Outstanding Community Service Award from Georgia Secretary of State Lewis Massey.  Her past talents, in entertainment and successfully producing and directing several plays, translate to the stage in her ability to engage audiences.   Be Encouraged, a speaking engagement company, and Higgins Communications & Training Alliance are the present vehicles for CiCi’s collaboration with clients.  She often compels her audiences:  “Let’s make a difference together!”

CiCi is passionate about community service.  She is a member of Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society and a former Fellow of the Annenberg Foundation’s Rural School and Community Trust.  CiCi has served as director on the boards of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Northwest Alabama 13-County Better Business Bureau, as a Trustee for the United Way, and in advisory capacities for university and high school organizations.  Several community organizations have benefited from workshops that she has developed and presented. She also became a journalist for two community newspapers and was often featured as a subject matter expert in other newspapers, on radio talk shows, and in a woman’s magazine.  In 1997, she received an Outstanding Community Service Award from Georgia Secretary of State Lewis Massey.
